Status:

I am currently living and working in Edinburgh having just completed my Masters Degree at Edinburgh College of Art. I work both solely and collaboratively as one part of the Steve Ovett Effect with fellow artists Ewan Sinlcair and Kenneth Watson: SOE specialize in built environment, multi media installation.

Areas of specialization:

I explore and build upon the visual applications inherent to digital culture to enrich film, develop interactive sculpture and convert screensaver landscapes to computer game animations. Employing appropriation as my modus operandi, I borrow symbolism from multiple sources: utopian architecture, military iconography and the flotsam of digi-culture. In this I utilize both built and sourced imagery from film, TV, documentary, news and web broadcasts to create icons emblematic of the present day.

*The residency saw the collaboration between the Royal Institute of Melbourne (Australia) and Edinburgh College of Art (Scotland). It brought together eight artists to explore the intersections between utopian aspirations and everyday living and the creative tensions this gave rise to. The Chicago Project 2007 is an ongoing research project, showing in America, Australia and the United Kingdom. In 2007 The Chicago Project released a publication, *Fold out Futures: Vol 1. Work on the follow up to The Chicago Project’s, Fold out Futures began in March 2008 and is due for release Spring/Summer 2009.
